Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just found this site, and these wooden dolls are beautiful! I thought some of you ladies might like them. I think they'd be perfect for an Easter basket gift!

Those are great...I wish the height of each was listed. They don't all necessarily look like the same size.

These are lovely. I agree that I'd like a little more information on the dimensions. I actually left a message for her.   I also agree that they would make wonderful gifts for the children's Easter baskets.

Thanks for the link! I love these! I got some similar wooden peg dolls from etsy at Christmas. My guess is that they are about 3"-4" because they look like the same form as the ones I purchased on etsy. Hand-sized. My girls and boy love their little wooden dolls. The ones we have fit the old Fisher Price vehicles too (bonus).

Last year, I tucked the Resurrected Jesus in my kids' Easter basket and think I will add another this year. They are even cuter in person and they come wrapped in a sweet little gingham bag tied with a bow...all ready for gift giving.

I have one. She's an absolutely darling St. Therese. She's about 3 1/2 inches tall.

We have four of these. They were our religious gifts to our kids for Christmas. The ones who are bell shaped like St. Anne (who is so sweet!) measure 3 1/2 inches tall. We also have St. Max who is a little taller at 3 3/4 inches tall. They all came in a little fabric bag tied with a ribbon on top. We are planning to collect more, maybe for Easter.

Yesterday I spoke with Tammy who makes these dolls and runs Catholic Folk Toys. She was so lovely and helpful. She gave me the following information:

1. the dolls are about 3 1/2 inches tall

2. the Nativity set includes Mary, Joseph, Jesus and a star. I think the price is around $35 - 40.

3. She will make special order saints. For Easter, she is making me a St. Josephine Bakhita and St. Martin de Porres. I am also ordering a Mother Theresa and one other.

Hello all of you lovely moms! Thank you so much for the feedback.
A bit about me: I am a homeschooling mom of 4 ages 9yrs - 4mo and a rescue St. Bernard and Pug. The dogs are also Catholic although the pug is a convert ;) Greenville, SC is our home. I started painting the dolls for my daughter who needed something to play with at mass/adoration that helped her to focus on the holy. Soon I began to receive requests for other saints etc...and with the encouragement of a dear friend, Sussette, I went public with a website, CatholicFolkToys.com. You are welcome to e-mail me at CatholicFolkToys@gmail.com or call at 352.275.9657.

As to the dolls, they are made of turned hardwood and are painted with AP non-toxic(USA made)waterbased paints. They are 4"tall X 1"wide for the male forms, and 3 1/2"tall X 1 1/2"wide for the female. They are extremely durable (stress tested by 5yr & 2yr old boys). I am also making Bl. Imelda Lambertini and St. Tarcissius for First Communicants. I have been having trouble getting my site updated. Sorry for any confusion.

Yours in Christ,
Tammy

Heehee, I think we have at least 20 of these awesome little dolls. My 7 year old son often worries at night in bed. Our solution? He sleeps with his St. Michael. The only trouble we have had is keeping them from being recruited into the boys "war games". At Mass one Sunday one of my boys was using 1 of the dolls to shoot the other one full of arrows complete with sound effects and a nasty fall from the top of the pew :-P

I love that my middle child uses them to help him talk to the Saints, to ask their help, and to be forming a relationship with these incredible people that I would like him to emulate. He is not very auditory in his learning, so often Saint stories go over his head; however with the wonderful details on these dolls we have a segway to explaining what the symbols mean and why they are there. I thank God often to have been granted a friendship with such an artist and that she has been willing to share her gift with others especially me :-D

This is a link to a post on my blog with some pictures. http://thewebsterfamily.com/2008/01/24/catholicfolktoyscom/

With the Joy of Christ,
Sussette

Tammy,
Are you going to have any soft dolls ready for Easter? I would like to find a small Mary for my daughter's Easter basket.

These are an answer to prayer, thank you Lindsay and Tammy and Sussette!! We have a basket of small statues our younger children are allowed to play with, when our family prays the Rosary. However, many of our dear statues halos, wings, even hands have broken off. With these delightful statues, that won't happen anymore! They look so strong and durable and absolutely adorable!

I have been looking for the male body for a long time. The only males I have found are the smaller size and are too small for my boys to paint. Does anyone know where I can buy the large male body?

God Bless,
Barb

The CatholicFolkToys etsy shop is empty right now (I imagine she is very busy filling orders), so these other links are helpful. Thanks, Jenn
