Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What's your favorite books for teaching art for children? Preferably something they can use on their own most of the time, that isn't only how to draw (some is fine tho), but some project type stuff too?

I have Seton's entire series and the entire Draw Write Now series, plus a few Usborne books. I'm looking to expand.

Not a favorite book, but a favorite site:
http://sunsite.icm.edu.pl/cjackson/fineart.htm

I get info off the Web for the bios, supplement with some library books, then the kids make their own little art galleries (on construction paper, LOL) with prints that I've downloaded for free from this site.

Two of Evan Moor's resources are excellent:
How to Teach Art to Children
and
ArtWorks for Kids

You can also "page through" the books at the Evan Moor site, to see if they appeal to you.

Two of my favorite sites for teaching Art and Art History:

A Lifetime of Color:
http://www.alifetimeofcolor.com/main.taf?p=0,1,3

A Pintura, Art Detective:

I'll second the motion for "How to Teach ARt to Children", and add "Discovering Great ARtists"....

We LOVE the "Draw Real" series by Lee Hammond, and all of the fabulous books at Northlight Publications. My oldest daughter is an incredible sketch atist as a result of those books.

Blessings,
