Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Folks:

What is your favorite resource/supplier for art supplies for the kids? Any Catholic-based company that I can support? I'm particularly interested in getting small jars of powdered tempera to use for various art projects -- any hints?

Thanks!

Hi Mary!

I'm just going to pass along some links, none Catholic that I know, but places that I have used or heard good things about. I'm sure you know most of them.

Dick Blick. This link goes to Blick Tempera Cakes, instead of the powder...might be less mess!

Paper & Ink Arts has some really fabulous art supplies. You said your daughter loves doing the Celtic knots...this place specializes in calligraphy. The website doesn't have as much as the catalog. You will be circling page after page for your wish list. *Sigh*...you should see my list!

Rainbow Resources is a great source...but I didn't see powdered tempera.

I asked this on another thread but it really belongs here: Has anyone used the Caran D'ache metallic crayons from this catalog and if so what projects and how do you use them? They look like great fun!

No, but they look scrumptious! I did find them cheaper at Dick Blick...and the description says they can be used on materials including paper, cardboard, glass, leather, and wood.

On a similar vein, I've been eyeing the Zig markers. They would be used for scrapbooking mostly, and calligraphy, but there are so many and so many different options. I'd love to hear if they are worth it...

I haven't used them, but someone passed this art supply store along my way: Cheap Joe's. Anyone use it?

I have a lot of Zig markers for scrapbooking.   They are definitely good markers. They are all I use (when I ever get around to scrapbooking, that is)
I have some that are 9 years old and still write just as well as originally.
