... at the IMAX. We just got back from an afternoon at the museum (one of the few a/c-ed places in Denver ) and took in the Hurrican on the Bayou -- it's a great film about the bayous of Louisiana and the devastation of Hurrican Katrina (and a suggestion for how to prevent it next time -- which might not be THE answer, but does get you thinking).
But the hit of the movie for me was the soundtrack -- great music that is truly Louisianian and gets you "bopping" in your seat (at least my 4 yos was!). Cay, have you seen it yet? It's a great film of how the folks down South live (and party)! So many potential rabbit trails from this one -- but I'm not going to pursue the hurricane aspect too much as our oldest is down at LSU in Baton Rouge and that's a bit too close to contemplate!

Haven't heard of it. It looks interesting.
I wonder if it'll be playing down here. Do you know?

We saw this at the Exploreum in Mobile last month. It is very well done. The music was awesome! I loved the little girl that was featured in the story. I also loved the scenery.....made me homesick.

If you want to expose your family to some fantastic AND HOLY Cajun music, check out this family band. They are friends of ours, a holy Catholic homeschooling family AND one of the best Cajun bands I have ever heard. The Hurricane on the Bayou is playing at the IMAX at the Museum of Natural Science in Houston as well as at the Aquarium in New Orleans in any of you Louisianians want a good day trip. I'll have to skip right now as my little ones were quite traumatized by the effects of Katrina and Rita on family and friends and are still very afraid of hurricanes.

Thanks for the link to L'Angelus -- sounds like a GREAT bday gift for dh (who grew up in BTR and was near to tears watching the IMAX movie!).

There are a couple of scenes that are pretty graphic as far as how bad the weather can be. There is a scene where a grown man is remembering Hurrican Audrie when he was 12 and it's a bit more realistic (his grandpa, helping the mom into a tree, lets go and has a heart attack and dies ). After that scene, Maggie was very pale and quiet during the rest of the film -- it was a bit more than she would have liked.....

I have to second missionfamily's promo of the band L'Angelus. The music and the family are fantastic! I had the privledge of becoming aquainted with them when they lived in my home town a few years ago. I also have them listed in the sidebar of my blog and wondered if anyone ever checked them out through the link. Anyway, I highly recommend their last album C'est Ce Bon.
