Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am trying to figure out what to do for next year. I want to include a definite program - separate from our narrations/liturgical crafts etc. Things I am going to look at
- The Drawing Textbook
- Mark Kistler's Draw Squad

For Art Appreciation - I will choose some artists to study and use activities from Discovering Great Artists.

Please would you share any ideas you have.

Thanks

Marilyn, one that I reviewed for the Winter Heart & Mind is Artistic Pursuits -- it's written by a Christian hs'ing mom who leans toward CM! How cool is that? It combines learning to do art with art history ... we're fortunate as the family lives in Denver, and Maggie had her as an art teacher. She's awesome! I know Kathryn Faulkner in UK uses it too!

I was going to recommend Artistic Pursuits, also. I've mentioned it several times in differnet threads. I think it is an excellent program. And as Mary G. said -it combines both art technique and art appreciation in the same book! It might appear to be a little expensive, but the fact is it does cover both aspects of art in one and each book is multilevel so you get a lot of use out of it.

And I also really do like The Drawing Textbook that you are looking at. It is basic and straight forward and very inexpensive.

We are using Artistic Pursuits as well. I am not an artist, and this is one area where I feel that I have failed my children. But I love this program because it is easy to use, provides both technique and appreciation, and you can purchase the supplies through Artistic Pursuits! The dc really love it as well.
