Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi- I am brand new to this forum and am a Catholic hs'ing mom from Sw Michigan with 4 kids. In the fall they will be K/1st/2nd/3rd grade. What level is recommended to group them all together for SL? I just got their new catalog and am very excited!

Hi PegPink-where in MI are you? We are contemplating a move to MI when my dh is out of the service. I'm Jennifer, currently in Mississippi. DH is in the Air Force and we have three girls- almost 6, almost 5 and almost 3.
Regarding Sonlight, I can tell you what didn't work for us , but you might also want to post your question on the "choosing forum" at sonlight.com as well as check out the sl-catholic group at yahoogroups.com Those ladies have had TONS of experience and will be able to help you as well.
I tried K with a 5 and an advanced 4 yr old. It was WAY over their heads. The language arts for K was right on (except they were writing out their full names in the first two weeks...) but the read alouds were too heavy-homelessness, Nazi's, poverty, etc. So I returned it. Sonlight K is geared toward grades K-2 so it might be a good fit for your older two.
We are starting ancient history this fall, so I ordered some of the books from Sonlight's Core 1. It seems like a perfect fit for my first grader this year. The material doesn't seem as mature. So Core 1 would probably work well for you, too.
So if it were me (take it with a grain of salt) I would go with Core 1 and expect to do some tweaking for your youngers.
Hope this helps!
Jennifer

We live in Sw Michigan, close to Benton Harbor/ St. Joe. It's a nice state and some very beautiful areas! Have a nice Catholic homeschooling organization with an annual conference in Lansing each June.
