Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Someone expressed an interest in this (I mentioned it in my homeschool expenses post) so I thought I would give it a quick review.

You can find out more about the Skoldo French course at http://www.skoldo.com

There are four levels, elementary (ages 4 - 7), book 1 (ages 6 - 10), book 2 (ages 8 - 11) and book 3 (ages 10 - 13). So it would lend itself well to multi-level teaching in the homeschool. I like the course because while being colourful and appealing, it is grammatically sound and inculcates a grammar knowledge systematically. It is very different from something like the BBC "Muzzy" course which relies on the total immersion method, i.e. that if you listen to the tapes often enough you will "get it" just as children learn their native tongue. I think that simply does not work very well, and it is also very expensive. Skoldo by contrast is very reasonably priced. Each level includes a pupil's workbook, a teacher's book and a CD.

Hat tip to Kathryn by the way!

Thank you for posting this. I wanted to get Skoldo French a couple of years ago (when Michelle and Kathryn first created the Mater Amabilis website). However, at that time, I would have had to purchase it from England. I am so happy to see that it is finally available for purchase in the U.S. I am off to buy it. Thank you, once again!

Thanks for writing the review, Jane. That was very helpful.
