Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Help me with my book list for Middle Ages, please!

I have a ton of historical fiction (more than they will be able to read). And I have plenty of saint books during this time period. I'm hoping to get through the years 500-1600?? I'm struggling with nonfiction books or a spine. I have A Little History of the World by Gombrich. Is this enough? I haven't even read any of this book to know if it's usable. I just know there is about 8 chapters on this time period. I have e-books for the Yesterday special. I'm feeling a little lost right now in my planning!

You might dig here to see if anything suits.

I decided to go with The Middle Ages by Dorothy Mills and I'm liking it. It really caught my interest at first, but it's a little boring at the moment. It is a challenge for my 12 year old ds. I assume it is just an older book and the language is a slight challenge for us both. I'm reading it out loud to him and keeping the reading short.

I used the Dorothy Mills book last year for my two 12 year olds and my 10 yr old. It was great! We went slowly, did a lot of oral narration, a weekly written narration, and an occasional drawn narration. We used it over a period of eighteen weeks. We haven't quite finished it up yet, but we will continue to the end in the fall and then go on to her Renaissance book. I'm curious to see how she handles the Reformation.
As a literature selection, we read The Door In the Wall. For our lunch read-aloud, we read The Little Duke.
