Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My oldest has taken an interest in WWII and I would like to find some books for him to read. Any suggestions?

Those titles are excellent. I would add:

Number the Stars
Code Talker
Journey to America (may be too girly)

Were you looking for historical fiction or non-fiction titles mainly?

This thread has recommendations (though the student age was a bit younger). Most titles can apply.

WWII for 9 year old

Also:
WWI and WWII books
First WWII book?
WWII Read aloud?

Thanks so much! With these suggestions and links to other I was able to make a big list for the library. Still need to find movies for him to watch.

My boys love both The Battle of Britain and The Longest Day, both of which are historically accurate and pretty "safe."

There is a scene in The Battle of Britain in which a husband and wife meet and are dressing in their bedroom presumably after behaving in the way a husband and wife would naturally after a long separation, but there isn't anything particularly sensual in this, and I don't think it means anything to my boys since they don't react to it at all (they react pretty adversely to the "mushy" stuff in Robin Hood and the like). I just wouldn't want anyone to be surprised by such a scene after I'd declared a movie "safe."

Twelve O'Clock High is more dramatic than it is historic, but we've enjoyed it as well. There are lots of other classics that fit this category, too. Flying Leathernecks comes to mind as well as The Flying Tigers.

I believe there is a past thread on WWII movie suggestions, if I am remembering correctly. Don't have time to search right now, but will get back to it if you don't find it on your own.

ETA: I did find the old thread - Appropriate World War II movies?
