I just bought a copy of Our Island Story, used hardback reprint printed by Galore Park Publishing, in association with Civitas.

It has lovely color illustrations! I'm surprised, because our copy of This Country of Ours does not, but I now see online there are versions with the original color illustrations.

So, can anyone recommend a version that does have color illustrations just like the original.

I couldn't find one with colored illustrations, but I'm thinking about cutting and pasting the illustrations from this digital copy so I can make 4 x 6 copies of the pictures to pass around when we read from this book this year (we are reading Chapters 45-68).

The illustrations are so detailed and wonderful. I'm sure they will engage the children.

It's kind of weird that I couldn't find any older hardback copies of this book online at all. Usually I can find something like this, even if it is more expensive than I like. But I didn't see anything printed before about 2000. You'd think old copies of a school text like this would be a dime a dozen!

That's where I saw the illustrations. Stunning, aren't they? That's a great idea about printing them out...thanks for the inspiration.

Yes, used copies I have not been able to find in a long time. There used to be some for expensive rates, but maybe this time of year they have all been snatched up.

ouch! I think I'll stick with copying the pictures to use with my paperback versions

Just wish newer history books had the lovely pictures and MAPS that older books often feature!
