Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am planning on doing the Holling C Holling books with dd this year and have purchased the Beautiful Feet guides and maps to go along.
My question involves the recommended supplemental books for Tree in the Trail: The King's Fifth, and Sing Down the Moon, both by Scott O'Dell. I haven't read either and they have mixed reviews on Amazon, so I was wondering if you ladies have any opinions on either.

Not answering your question because I haven't read either of those, but in my own planning for Seabird, I couldn't resist skimming the others, and then I came across Walk the World's Rim in the Sonlight curriculum for the Core D, which includes Tree in the Trail. Anyway, I filed it away as something that looked good to supplement with Tree in the Trail down the road for us.

Honestly, my kids found both of them boring and I have to agree. That being said, they don't find many books boring and read unceasingly.

I found The Kings Fifth a hard to get through read-aloud as well.

Not what you asked, but here are some picture books because I can never resist ...

Santa Fe Trail: 1821-1880
Lewis & Papa: Adventure on the Santa Fe Trail (Barbara Joosse) - trade route, 1822-1880
Along the Santa Fe Trail (Ginger Wadsworth) - taken from memoirs
A Right Fine Life: Kit Carson on the Santa Fe Trail (Andrew Glass)
