I tried searching but didn't come up with anything  If there is a thread that mentions The Twelve Caesars translated by Robert Graves please link me.
My oldest dd is reading through Dorothy Mills' Book of Ancient Romans (slowly) and usually has a list of others to pick from for the term to read at her desired pace. She chose Genevieve Fosters' Caesar's World and is almost done with it  so she has asked if I could find her a similar or interesting book that talks about others like Tiberius and Nero (Caesar lineage specifically).
I'd love to hear any good suggestions for a mature advanced 12 yo reader. I ran across The Twelve Caesars and would love to hear your opinion if you've read it or used it with your student. Some of the reviews refer to possible tabloid/scandalous like content. I just want to be aware and make sure it's appropriate for her before ordering it. I did notice that it is listed on Veritas Press catalog for 7th grade so I'm hoping it's not heavy on the scandalous material 
I have a few fictional titles for her as well, but I always like to hear what you recommend

Suetonius wrote the original version of The Twelve Caesars. I took a look at two translations (Graves and one other) of the chapter on Nero and they were 1) a bit difficult to read and 2) pretty detailed, in terms of Nero's debaucheries. I'm not sure I'd want my daughter to read it and she is 14. There's just too much sordid detail. (I did not read the Caligula chapter, but I'm sure it's more of the same...  )
I did all of this vie Google and Project Gutenberg, so you could look for yourself and you and your husband could decide together about each translation.

Thanks Nancy!! I did find a chapter to preview.  I think if she is just a bit patient with the Mills book she will eventually learn more about these famous Romans.

I'd like to put in a plug for one of my favorite authors, Charles Morris. His volume of Roman Tales is wonderful (as are all of his Historical Tales). Perfect for middle/high school. You can get a look at it online here:Historical Tales:Roman and it is available free for Kindle and at project Gutenburg as well.

Theresa, thank you! I hope to encourage my daughter to read Morris's book before the school year ends. He keeps enough of the important information and leaves out just the details you'd want to skip. I really appreciate this recommendation.

Jenny, there's a lot for your daughter to learn, and I think it's so wonderful that you want to make sure the material she reads is appropriate for her reading level, age and faith background. She can learn a lot without learning everything right away!
My daughter (14) has been reading Lives from Plutarch as an Ancient History supplement - it ends with Marc Antony, but is very age-appropriate. (I'd have let her read it at age 12.) This book includes ancient Greeks' biographies, too.
I think this type of exchange is one of the best parts of being here at 4Real. We can share ideas and help each other find resources that will be truly helpful to our children, at any age or developmental level.

I couldn't agree more. If there is title I'm really not sure about and just haven't had time to preview myself, I always like to check here. 
She has been reading from Lives from Plutarch by Mcfarland since we started our Greek study. She loves history and always finds the people fascinating. Her must read list included some very good titles and in turn has created this search for more good living books. I know we will go into the summer and past our term studying about Rome that's how much she's been enjoying
