Does anyone have a list of chronological history books by grade level or know where to find one online? I would love to find just a list of books to use for history to read aloud or for independent reading.
Thanks!
Lisa

Mater Amabilis
Ambleside Online
Charlotte Mason Help
Penny Gardner (not by grade, but very large list)
Tanglewood
You can also search packaged curriculum like Sonlight or even glean some books from Kolbe, Mother of Divine Grace, and Angelicum. Not in an easy list format, but they are there within the grade levels.
That's all I can think of right now, and I can't vouch for the books used in each link.

I use those sites listed above and others, too.
And the main site: Reading Your Way Through History
Maureen Wittmann's For the Love of Literature has a nice chronological listing broken down by levels. It's not a lot of books, but satisfying.
And Catherine Levinson's book A Literary Education has it nicely organized here.
I also highly recommend Reading the Saints: Lists of Catholic Books for Children by Janet MacKenzie for saint and other Catholic books broken down chronologically and by countries.
This is not Catholic, but I really like Paula's Archives for ideas.
Also Valerie's Living Books.
And RC History Connecting With History by Sonya Romens is a treasure, also.

If you can find -
"All Through the Ages: History through Literature Gude" by Christine Miller
"Let the Author's Speak: A Guide to Worthy Books based on Historical Setting" by Caroline Hatcher
both WONDERFUL resources but are out of print. I've gotten them used.
And then I use these and many of the online sources listed along with a timeline I purchased and collate the information in Excel. Makes for my own reading list by time line (going down) and by age level (going across) so that I can also grab recommendations about time periods that we're not currently doing and plug those in so that I can easily find them when we do get to that time frame.

Let the Authors Speak is by JenMack's own mother! I have just read that All Through the Ages is kind of continuation of Hatcher's book.
I'm just waiting for Jen's!

I do hope to one day have the revision and update (with many additions) to Mom's book complete. All in God's time I suppose.
Even without revision, it remains one of my go-to sources for building a booklist along with all those mentioned on this thread.
