Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Theresa

I was just reading them You mentioned not finding a core book you were happy with and I remembered a very meaty and I think interesting one(but I'm a history buff) on my shelf. 'The History of Greece' by JB Bury.

Librivox says; J.B. Bury wrote his “History of Greece” before World War I, but it was such a good overview of classical Greek history that the third edition was still being used as a college textbook in the late 1960’s. ...... Bury writes in a lucid, easily understood style that entertains as it educates. The book covers artistic and literary development, as well as politics and war, and its field of view includes western Asia Minor, the Aegean archipelago, and “Greater Greece” (

Maybe your ds might appreciate it more in another year or two, perhaps he would enjoy it now.

I also have a similar style book on Rome, 'History of Rome' by M Cary.

Hey Theresa,
Great looking plans! If, after reading the Odyssey, he wants to delve more into Agamemnon's issues, I would recommend "Agamemnon" from Aeschylus' Orestian Trilogy. This can be followed up with Euripides' "Electra", which tells the story of how the children Orestes and Electra plot "revenge against their mother Clytemnestra and stepfather Aegisthus for the murder of their father, Agamemnon." Just a thought, anyway.

Yep. Orestian trilogy is on the list!
