I did a search and found that Stephanie already posted in the teen forum about an incredible book, "1776 The Illustrated Edition", by Pulitzer Prize Winner David McCullough, ...just had to add it here. We recently discovered this book at our local library. Reading this book and pouring over the numerous documents, maps, letters and images in vellum envelopes... interspersed generously throughout the book...feels like a giant field trip, with the added benefit of actually handling well-produced reproductions of many pieces of our nation's early history!
1776 The Illustrated Edition

One of the reviewers on Amazon mentions that every American household ought to have a copy of this amazing resource...my thoughts while reading it were that every homeschooling family ought to have a copy! This one is definitely on our wishlist!
