Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are studying World War 1 this coming term. I thought to share our plans here in the hope that they may help somebody else.

Erin, I went through a HUGE WWI phase back in my 20's. Most books are too darn depressing, but I think I would recommend Vera Brittain's Testament of Youth, which is about a VAD nurse. Also, WWI is a great intro to some really good poetry. Seigfreid Sassoon, and many others who don't come right to mind wrote some really great poetry related to the war.

Also, the movie Gallipoli, with Mel Gibson is pretty good.

And there is a really good nonfiction, also called Gallipoli by forgotten author, which is definitely G-rated and worth reading. Hope you do this before winter, and the entire subject is so depressing and you don't want dreary weather adding to that!

If I recall authors or other good titles, I'll post.
