Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been using FIAR with Mater Amabilis for my 2nd grade dd. I have not used the history from MA as I was just goiong to use what we got from FIAR. I am feeling that I need to add more to the history so I was going to add This Country of Ours from MA. After reading some reviews I am having second thoughts about this text. History is not my strong suit so I do not wnat to have to figure out on my own the Prtestant biases in the text we use(I fear I would fail miserably at this).
Does anyone have any suggestions for a Catholic History spine that we could use or point out the parts to omit/watch out for in This Country of Ours?
Thanks,

Hi Darlene,

I have This Country of Ours and we have used it here and there but truthfully, it is a bit beyond my dd, who is in 2nd grade...I have chosen How Our Nation Began as our Catholic spine this year and it has been perfect for dd. We augment the text with living books and some early readers that dd can read on her own. We also put up figures on our timeline as often as we can get to it! I believe MODG uses this as one of their recommendations for American History in 2nd or 3rd grade...my brain is mushy this morning!
