Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi,

can anyone tell me anything about the CHC lesson plans that utilize FSTSS and AYL? Do they give a daily or weekly breakdown? Historical Fiction selections? Activities? Website/movies?

thx....

it's a weekly breakdown
there's plenty of historical fiction selections, projects, and some good movies too

there's websites gallore, BUT even though I purchased mine a year ago, most of them are already useless. this is my ONE BIG peeve with any curriculum that uses websites. they don't update on their own websites, so I end up doing the searches and so forth same as if they had never given me a website to begin with. sometimes it's no big deal because I can just not bother with the website, but sometimes it's a real pain because the only reference they give for a needed resource is a website.

CHC the Middle School years lesson plan for all their subjects gives you a (1)sample weekly lesson plan break down, (2)an Independent Study chart with a daily break down to copy off for your child. The Teacher's Manual gives timelines, quizzes, tests, vocabulary, and a reading list. In the lesson plans themselves, there is a "Hands-On Study Guide" for every week that lists ideas and activities for Historical Fiction, Crafts, Dress Up Fun, Food, Map, Memorization. And gives the suggested schedule that you work from the book reading the chapters the first week, then work on the historical readings and enrichment activities from the Hands On Study Guide for the second week.

I hope this information is helpful! God's blessings,
Diane

Laura, you can email me for more details, if you want. Fwiw, I've never used those plans. They feel tedious after awhile. jmho

I'm considering using these texts as well and wanted to point out that Ignatius Press has them on sale right now for 50% off. Ignatius Press 50 - 80% off sale
