Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wasn't really sure where to post this but I wanted to share.

Since it is the month of November that we remember our beloved dead, and because it is also Veteran's Day, I wrote a little tribute to my late Father-in-law, a veteran of World War II. You can read it here.

If any of you have stories to share today, please do!

I've been printing items from this site for the past hour. We designed a certificate for Opa (Korean War Veteran) and the girls are coloring it now. He'll be coming for coffee shortly and we'll present it.

The girls want to go see PawPaw's grave and the picture of him and MeMe we had put on it. Since he was a WWII Veteran, I thought we'd go today and say a rosary for all souls as well.

Our neighboring port city always has an Avenue of Flags along the cemetery entrance as well. It's a beautiful site with hundreds of flags so we'll drive through there as well.

We lost PawPaw this past July 9th and our nephew Aaron this past Oct. 23. Last week my bil sent us a recording he found of Aaron interviewing PawPaw about his WWII experience. It's the only recording we have of PawPaw's war experience. Two lost voices captured forever in time. It's a treasure.

I have it on computer and am trying to figure out how to get it transferred onto my blog. No luck so far.

Elena,

Thank you for sharing such a warm and wonderful tribute to your late father-in-law. It brought back memories of that fine generation of men and women who are no longer here with us. They are missed, but not forgotten.

To all of our brave veterans, thank you for your service to our great country!

I blogged about Veterans Day for our local newspaper; you can read the post here.

And to all our veterans and their families, thank you for all you do for our country. I appreciate your sacrifices, courage and commitment.
