Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'd like to do a quick week's worth of reading about the pony express with the boys. but am totally overwhelmed at amazon. There are so many lovely books by reliable authors. Anyone have a favorite to recommend. Hurry...before I just buy them all!

Old thread - but it is the only one I could find that was specifically Pony Express themed.

Today is an anniversary date of the Pony Express in 1860 - April 14 first mail arrived at destinations. My son pointed out that the Google graphic is commemorating that. It is super cute and a really fun little game you can play. Click on it to play. Help the rider pick up mail and get it between stations from CA to MO.

And here are our favorite picture books that I pulled from the Picture Book History list.
Pony Express: 1860-1861
They're Off: The Story of the Pony Express (Cheryl Harness)
Ride Like the Wind: A Tale of the Pony Express (Bernie Fuchs)
Off Like the Wind: The First Ride of the Pony Express (Michael Spradlin)
Whatever Happened to the Pony Express (Verla Kay)
Pony Express (Steven Kroll)

And a fun easy read-aloud or on own chapter book is Riding the Pony Express by Robert Clyde Bulla
