Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have and use this? What do you think I am reading the Well Trained Mind and it is suggested, along with Kingfisher Illustrated History of the World. Amazon had a few negative reviews from a Catholic stand point of the first book I mentioned.
I have not done any formal history or geography yet so I am just getting started and will be reading through this section a lot for ideas.

Heidi,
We have the Usborne book and have used it to look things up now and again. It's okay, the kids can read it easily. We have a Kingfisher Animal Encyclopedia not the World History one, but I and the kids love that Kingfisher Encyclopedia. I don't know if you can get both Usborne and Kingfisher,
but if I had to chose one, I'd look into getting the Kingfisher History one only because we all love the animal one so and I figure the history is probably good too.

Another Caveat that may or may not be mentioned in the amazon reviews about Usborne World History is all the naked pictures!!! Every couple of pages there is a naked woman (or women) drawn and many of them are completely unnecessary and even suggestive in a case or two. My Dh looked at it and requested I cover those images up before using it with our 2 boys. I spent the summer going through it and putting stickers over those parts! We are using SOTW 1 this year and it is almost necessary to have either Usborne World History OR Kingfisher...I got this one cheap, so we went with it. Just wanted to to let you know about that
