Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm planning to do ancient history with my children this year (advanced 5th, average 3rd and 1st). I had been planning to use RC History, but have recently read about Beautiful Feet's ancient study guide.

Has anyone compared or used both? Any thoughts on either of them? I'm also curious about anything anti-Catholic in Beautiful Feet. I have to admit, I am woefully ignorant of the ancient time period. I don't think it was ever covered in school and I haven't picked up much on my own. I want something that's pretty much there for me....I don't mind fleshing out if the basics are there, but I know it'll never get done if I have to start from scratch.

TIA!

I can't speak to that particular level of Beautiful Feet, but I will say that they teach "providential history" which is a version of history similar to Marshall's The Light and the Glory. Its the idea that God has a special plan for America above all others and that God has *uniquely* involved himself in American history. Some of the levels are definitely anti Catholic, and they also tend to glorify the Puritans. The Holling study guide is fine, and we managed to make the CA history one work when we lived there, too. I suspect the horse one is fine, and possibly the history of science as well, but I can't be sure. I returned the Am. history one years ago because it offended me greatly, and I wasn't even Catholic at the time. I wouldn't recommend buying it without seeing the guide first.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Books!

We have the Holling study and I really like it, but it seems hard to have bias in geography!

I appreciate your input!
