Any links or good books/curriculum on Texas history, hopefully from a Catholic POV? My ds is doing 9th grade next year and would like to do a unit of Texas history as well, since he loves that.

We have used a few different sources:

1. True Tales of Texas History by Bertha Mae Cox
It was written as a textbook in 1949 but a very unique kind of textbook. More like a story book with suggestions for further study at the end of each chapter. I think it might be too young for 9th grade but might be a place to start. Not written by a Catholic but definitely friendly to the history of the Catholic Church in Texas

2. Texas History Stories by E.G. Littlejohn which I think was originally published in the early 1900's. I don't remember it being anti-Catholic but it has been awhile since I read it.

3.A few books that we have by June Rayfield Welch. He was one of my professors at UD and was a wonderful storyteller.
