OK, my little history buffs and home-learning afficianados .... is there out there a multi-age history program (one that I can use with all 3 of my littles) that covers American history OTHER THAN Winter Promise's American Story. I really like what I see with WP -- especially the multi-grade syllabi (but REALLY wish they would put it on CD so I could edit as I need  ) -- but is there anything else out there?
Since we'll be moving to the cradle of history (at least the for the mid-Atlantic, y'all  ) I thought it'd be great to do American History over the next couple of years with all 3 of my littles so that we would have an excuse (I mean, REASON!) for field trips in and around VA. BUT, since we're moving and having to leave some books behind  , I want something that is fairly turn-key -- all planned out for me, with the books that are good, etc.
Winter Promise fits the bill but I just want to be sure I'm not overlooking something. CHC, Seton, others have good looking programs but they're age/grade specific without an easy way to add other aged kids ....
Am I making sense? Anyone know of anything that would work?
History just seems such a natural "peg" to hang all other subjects off that I'd like to find something really good that I can work with as mine get older?

Theresa,
Winter Promise used the Homeschool in the Woods products -- so I've looked at them ... but do they have a curriculum too or just the pieces. That's one piece of WP I relaly like is the narration thru scrapbooking/lapbooking as a permanent "make it yourself" history book. It's like the Book of Centuries idea but in a seemingly more useful format and fun way of remembering who and when and where and why!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but it looks to me as if they have developed it into full units--on CDRom!
Here is the description from the site:

Mary, I'm not sure which ages you're looking at but MODG has American History in several elementary years and then again at high school--all of it literature based. I see some hands on books in the elementary booklists too. There's dictation and narration and poetry memorization and picture study. Several of the books are Bethlehem Books and the rest are American historical fiction classics. I like this list even better than the Sonlight AMerican History list because of the inclusion of Bethlehem books.

Thanks Elizabeth -- Ineed to check MODG; I had used her when my older ones were in middle school, but had stayed away after that as it was too schooly for me ... but they do recommend good books and maybe that's what I need most?
Theresa -- I did look at Homeschool in the Woods -- you're right as it does include all the history stuff (and each unit if $30 as opposed to the $150 that WP wants for the same thing x 4). The great benefit to going thru HitW is that I can try a unit ... and with Elizabeth's suggestion of MODG, that would work too ...
I knew y'all would have a great answer!

We are doing American History - with 7th Grade, 4th Grade and K (listening in) next year. I am only just in the planning stages - but I am using MODG Grade 4. For 7th Grade I am not quite there - but I am looking at Kolb's materials. I have started a reading list using my Sonlight 3 and 4 readers, MODG and other resources.
Each of my children has the timeline book from Homeschool in the Woods - we have been a little slow in using them this year - but I plan on getting back to timeline next year. I love the HSW products on cd - easy to print out for multiple kids, use as coloring pages for littles etc.
I will be happy to send you all my lists when I do them.
The one field trip that I know we will definitely do next year is Philadelphia - I still have not been there. Also the American History Museum in DC is due to open up again this summer - I am looking forward to that. Then of course there are all the ones we have done but may do again - Mount Vernon, Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, etc etc
