Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

In preparing for our move back East, I've started getting the kiddoes dvds/videos to watch on the history of the area. One series in particular has been a BIG hit -- Liberty: The American Revolution -- is a 6-hour PBS show about the events, people and places leading up to and including the Revolution. This is a very well-done series! One thing that makes it fun is that they have actors dressed in period costume, speaking quotes from diaries, letters home, etc. interspersed throughout the footage of the areas, reenactments and historians' discussions of the War.

This is a REALLY well done series for those of you studying American History.

They also have an online teaching guide with lots of discussion Q&A type stuff in it. Approx high school/upper middle school level if I recall.

Mary,

We really enjoy reading about the American Revolution and visiting the living history sites affliated with that time. Are your younger children viewing this? We were watching Liberty's Kids on The History Channel. They pulled that series off about a month ago and I'd like to find something else that we could watch.

Thanks,

Mare

My 9 yos is watching it and loving it ... the other two are popping in and out and picking up bits ... they especially LOVE James Taylor singing "Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier"

go to Kewl Cartoons
and you can watch Liberty Kids online for free .

Also - I have heard LOTS of good reviews for the Liberty series. WinterPromise schedules (or maybe just suggests episodes?) for it in the American Story 1 program.   I will probably be adding it to SL Core 3.

Also - you can get a free trial account at United Streaming - they have both Liberty's Kids and Liberty! on there.

HTH,
