Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ok, we have gone through Power Glide, Learnables, some Alpha Omega (switched on schoolhouse), and other various things. I'm not really happy with any of them.
I did not think that Spanish would so important to me, but I took it for 8 years, and it is the only subject ds, in school for the first time as a freshman, is struggling with. The other kids around here all (public or private schooled) basically start in grade K, and even with what I "thought" was enough, it is sorely lacking.
I don't want to teach my kids just to get them into school down the road, if anything ds Joe's experience is just confirming to me that there must be something else out there.
Rosetta Stone?? anyone think it is worth the price?
other suggestions?
gracias!

I've never used it, but I've always heard Rosetta Stone is "it", FWIW.

Have you checked out your local library? Our library has Rosetta Stone. Granted one can't do a year's worth with a limited check-out, but, if they have it, at least you could get a feel for it before spending the money.

One of my hs friends who spent time in Mexico while growing up has begun "Spanish with Grace." She really likes it, as a good beginning for her children.

Let us know what you wind up using and how it works. I am really looking into incorporating a language next year, besides Latin.

God Bless,

We used Rosetta Stone German through our public library for the past year and a half and my kids enjoyed it and learned quite a bit. When the library stopped the free program, we decided to buy it ourselves. We've combined it with some German tv shows from United Streaming for a fairly well-rounded program.

Probably the best way to learn is to spend time with someone who speaks the language, but Rosetta Stone is pretty good! :)

You can also try a free intro lesson/lessons with these programs. Visual Link Spanish and Rocket Spanish . I also love the book Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish.

Good luck!

This is very last minute...but I believe (do a search to verify on the threads) that Adoremus's 20% off sale ends today and they carry Rosetta Stone. And if you order over $25, which Rosetta is, you get free shipping. You'd have to decide fast, but at least you'd get it a little cheaper
