Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello all;

Since our family's move east, we've been loving our adventurous road trips more than ever before, combing throughout eastern countrysides all new to us. WE are heading to a family wedding in two months, drifting down I-75 from Detroit to Florida. Any tips and/or points of interest we absolutely must see would be very appreciated! We have horse lovers who are thrilled about a stop in Lexington, KY, and other than that, we're fairly ignorant about most things along the rest of the route. We'd love something Amish (to buy a quilt or two, grin), or whatever else historical we are informed about.

Thanks so much in advance.

Renee,

Here in Dayton, OH we have the US Air Force Museum (free!) that attracts a lot of visitors and is really nice. There are many other sites to see near Dayton and Cincinnati, both of which are right on I-75. If you have any questions, feel free to ask (or PM) anytime.

God bless,
Christine

There's plenty to do in Cincinnati.      You could catch a Red's game, visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, and tour the Cincinnati Museum Center (3 museums in one building!). All are within sight of 75. If you do make a stop in Cincy, make sure you visit a restaurant serving Cincinnat chili, either Skyline or Gold Star. Don't miss this major cultural force of the Queen City!

North of Atlanta there is a nice state park on a lake - Red Top Mtn. just a minute off the interstate. They have a restaurant, hiking trails and a playground. A bit further down 75 in downtown Kennesaw is Southern Museum an excellent civil war museum. You can also visit Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield (a nat'l park) a few minutes away. Fun!

We live in metro Detroit and have made the trek down I-75...too many times to count! All suggestions are great. Here is another, Andersonville and the National POW Museum, near Americus, GA. It is a little off the beaten path, but the museum is free. We went there on one southern expedition, and we were SO impressed! My boys are huge history buffs and love all things military. This museum brings home what an incredible sacrifice our military gives to us all. A VERY neat place, it took about 1/2 an hour or so to reach off 75, less time to get back on. We spent about an hour there (could have spent more, but I was alone with 4 young ones, at that point!). Plus, there is the Andersonville historic site. We hope to go back there, again, on our next trip.
Oh, one other thing we are hoping to do on our next trip is go to the Atlanta's Georgia Aquarium. This place looks absolutely AWESOME!!!!

Hope this helps!
God Bless,
Stacy in MI (Mom to 6 dss)

Thanks so much everyone. I'm printing and linking to all your suggestions for our trip. We plan to take it slowly, and try not to overdue it, but secretly I want to see it all...LOL If you think of anything else, feel free to let me know. Thanks again.
