Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have just sponsered a child in Honduras <sp?> My dd (4) asked to do this after seeing an appeal. We are going to bake cookies to sell to family members each month to raise the sponser money. So, my question...any thoughts on turning this into a rabbit trail? We have been sent a fact sheet, alomg with a picture of our little girl, who we will be writing to, so that is somewhere to begin. I am thinking of resources/books relating to the country, etc, but also the bigger picture. But, my dd is only 4, so itall needs to be kept simple, IYSWIM? I hope this makes sense...writing in a rush

My dd is Honduran, so we are looking forward to studying this country soon, too.
You might try listening to some Honduran music or hunting down some simple recipes to prepare a Honduran meal. Try learning a few Spanish words or phrases.
Color a flag of Honduras
Color a simple map, marking where Columbus landed in 1502 (Trujillo), the capital (Tegucigalpa), and La Paz of course (LOL!).
This country is also very biologically diverse, with over 650 species of orchids. You may want to tie it into a rain forest study as well.
Let me know what you come up with as I'd like to get this study underway in about a month here as well!
