Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here is what we have planned (actually, we have started). What I am wondering is how much is "enough?" As in, enough language arts (copywork, etc) enough science, and so on? What do you think? Where do I fit in phonics for the littles, or is that just a given that we do it as an aside?

Hi Liz,
I really enjoyed reading your plans, as I too am covering the colonial era this year. I started another thread about resources here.

I was over at Mary Chris's house perusing her history shelves the other day (boy, she has a LOT of great resources - I took home a huge bagful!) and told her that I could probably happily spend the next 2 or 3 years studying the colonial period because there are SO many great books. I'm planning on spending the entire year on early American History, from Columbus through the colonial era and the Revolutionary War.

I'm not sure if you know it, but Colonial Williamsburg holds special homeschooling weeks each year. We are planning to go in a few weeks. The daily passes are usually $36 for adults and $18 for kids. During the homeschooling week they are $5 per day for everyone. Multiple day tickets are an even better deal. There will be another two week period homeschooling discount at the end of March, I think.

Yes, Irene, that is our plan! I was the kid who didn't want to go to Disney, but dreamed of going to Williamsburg. Home educator week is over my birthday--I'm getting my wish

ETA--I just went to your other post. I'm sorry I didn't go there first. It looks like you have a great plan, also!

So are you going in to the later one, since you mentioned wrapping up with the visit? I'd love to meet up if you were coming to the September week.

Wah We're not going until October and will miss all the fun! (Well, maybe not ALL the fun, Williamsburg is always a great trip. I tell my children it's probably the closest thing to time travel they'll ever experience.)

Break out the tricorn hats!
