Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have the option to buy a second hand copy of the Minimus programme.
Would it be a good/easy starting point? I have zero exposure to Latin.
Thanks,
Tricia

I have and am using it. Its great fun! My kids love it.
Your 9 and 7 will really enjoy.

There is also a yahoo group you can join and download the teachers manual for free!! It has a lot more history background and activities.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MinimusHS/

If you have little latin background, you might also want eventually to get something more "traditional" for you to go through to help understand the grammar, even if you are going to wait to introduce it to your boys.

You might also want to get the audio cds--that will help with your pronunciation too. (I think it is classical pronunication, though.)

hth,

We use it to break the sometimes monotonous Latina Christiana 2. The kids love it, especially the activities from the MinimusHS-shared-manual. Oh, and we don't use the Minimus CD (bought it-sold it) -- because we wanted to stick with ecclesiastical Latin.

We are not doing a formal latin program now,(I have decided to wait until my dd is older) but my dd does Minimus on her own. It is a big hit here. My dd loves it so much that she asked for Minimus Secundus for her birthday. I think it is a great way to step into latin.

Minimus HS-shared-manual.

Considering this for my up-and-coming 2nd and 4th graders plus Friday relief for my LC-ers. So, you didn't buy the teacher's guide? Where do I find the HS shared manual?

A mum bought it to a our 'mother's night' last week and I thought it looked like so much fun. I'm considering searching for a second hand copy now that ds interest in Latin is sparked by serving at the Latin Mass.

On a fun note, Ferdinandus Taurus is the Latin version of Ferdinand the Bull by Munro Leaf. (Emmanuel Books stock this also)

The shared manual is no longer available. There was a misunderstanding and it was copyright infringement.

The manual is nice to have, but you can use Minimus without it. It's a very cute and easy-paced program.

Bumping this thread up with a question.... I have a copy of Minimus the book, but I never studied Latin and am not sure about all the pronunciations.

The book doesn't seem to give much help there. I know there is an audio version of the book, but one reviewer on Amazon said the book and the cd don't really follow each other well.

I am wondering if anyone has used the cd and has any thoughts on that....

Thanks!
