Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm already thinking about next year. I plan to use CHC for many subjects, but I don't think I want to do their history plans because they seem like they would get too complicated as my dc get older. (For example, when one dc is supposed to be touring countries another will be studying world history. I guess I'm thinking far ahead. Have any of you used CHC with multiple ages?

We started out with a unit study approach for history and science, so we've jumped around a lot. Now that my oldest is going to be in the third grade, I'm thinking that I'd like to try a rotating schedule. The problem is, there are so many options. I'm looking at RC history, Sonlight, Simply Charlotte Mason, the Real Learning booklist...

Have any of you been using a rotating schedule? How is working out? Do you do both American and World History is the same year, or do you focus on one period at a time?

Cheryl, by rotating schedule do you mean doing history chronologically? If so, this is what we do. When we started hsing, we started out with WTM. So I ventured out on the 4 yr. cycle. As the years have whittled away, I have changed drastically how we homeschool but I still do history chronologically. We aren't doing it in 4 yrs. though. We are taking our time in going through history.

We are not American, so to us, American history is World history. We do Canadian (we live in Can.) history separately from World history because I want to take our time going through it.

hth,
