We're a Saxon family, but it is proving a little too intense for my 8yo. We'll be doing CHC in the fall and I think I'll try MCP. I've tried it before and this child liked it, but I preferred Saxon and switched back. Learned my lesson!!
Anyway, my question is this: does MCP spend the first 30-40 lessons of each year reviewing the previous year, as Saxon seems to do?
With all of our illnesses in '06, I don't see how we'll "catch up" (I'm one who worries about such things), but if I knew we'd spend a few weeks in review, then I'll wait and just teach it all once, kwim?
Sorry to droan on so about such a short question...
Thanks!!

I am also looking at MCP third grade. My question is: Do I need the teacher's manual?

late answer about the teacher's guide.
I didn't *need* the guide, however it made grading much quicker.

Hi there, we use MCP as well, have done A, B, & D not C yet...I agree with Martha, you don't really NEED the Teacher's Manual but it definitely saves time and effort in grading! Plus there are a few neat tricks mentioned for review or more practice if a child needs it.

I find the teacher's manuals helpful for grading like others have said, but not absolutely necessary. I managed to buy them used from Amazon sellers for about $5 each.

I'm looking at MCP for third grade. I see that allcatholicbooks.com has the answer key (produced by Seton) available for $3.00. Has anyone used just that with the student edition instead of the teacher's manual?

Yes. The answer keys are most helpful in checking the work! I don't think the TMs are necessary, but I was able to pick up used copies for about 5 dollars each, so I did. You don't have to.
