Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just came across these at the local teaching store... math dice in different shapes and colors with all kinds of different numbers on them.   My mom immediately let the kids each pick out two and bought them.

My ds thinks it's fun to sit on the steps and roll two dice, then add the numbers together (ex. one die might say 17 and the other 80).
They are kind of neat in a novel way... a good way to sneak in some extra math practice.

At the same time... they just have a bit of a new agey look. Am I being paranoid to worry about that?

The "multifaceted dice" you're referring to are also called polyhedral dice. The standard ones are Platonic solids plus an additional 10-sided die. So there's a tetrahedron (4 sides), hexahedron (standadrd 6-sides), octahedron (8 sides), decahedron (10 sides, though not a true Platonic solid), dodecahedraon (12 sided), and iscosahedron (20 sided die.) The 10-sided dice either have 1 to 10 or they have 10s on them (00, 10, 20, 30, 40, and so on.)

There's all kinds of fun math games you can use them for. I have the Polyhedral Dice Game book. Each page is a game board for a variety of dice games. I took the book apart and put each page into a sheet protector to make them easier to use--you can even write on them with a dry erase marker if needed for the game.

The dice are used in fantasy role playing games not recommended for Catholics to engage in. Some may well be used by other New-Age or frankly occult activities, I don't know, but they certainly did not originate there. They are commonly found in educational venues like the one in which you purchased yours.

Oh, we have those dice and JBug uses them for her math all the time. So easy to just hand her a random pair and say "roll and add these" or subtract, etc. She loves them. I would totally not worry about the new-agey thing with these. They are just dice.
Kris, I have not seen that dice game book! Looks great! Thanks!
