Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can anyone recommend a good Accounting program? My son wants to learn basic accounting as he plans to have his own business someday. When I took it in high school we used a textbook and a workbook that had practice ledgers and balance sheets, etc. I imagine these days it is more of a computer course although I'm not sure...maybe doing it on paper to learn the concepts and then learning the software part of it is better. Please give me any info you can. Thanks!

I don't have any particular suggestions, though I've taken several accounting classes as an undergrad.

My first suggestion though would be to see what they are using at your local community college - just to get an idea even if you decide you don't like what they've got.

I have two college-level accounting books here that you could have (I've tried selling them, but noone wants them!) - one uses Peachtree software (and comes with it).

Otherwise, even poking through a bookstore to see what titles come up - the dummies/idiots books are great for getting the pertinent information across, before delving into something more intense.

I think accounting is a great course to take in high school. I haven't used the book yet, but hopefully we will in the next few years - The Accounting Game.   It sounds like it should be good for 1/2 credit.

We went through the Accounting Game last year and it was a fun way to learn the basics. I'm looking for something now that will teach him what he would really need to do for business record keeping and reporting.

Catholicmommy - do you think what you have would fit what I'm looking for? Being college level would it be too advanced? Thanks a bunch for the offer!
