My kids switched to using this for Saxon while we were in Italy. Now that we're back, they're looking for similar notebooks here. Anyone have a favorite source? I saw some at Walmart but I wasn't too happy with the quality of the paper.

Stef,
I'm sorry I don't have time to link now, but we love quadrille notebooks and it has made a HUGE difference for us with math work!
Mine is a Norcom brand 4x4 quadrille - 100 sheets per notebook. I'm not sure if I found them at Target, Walmart, or Staples. The paper weight has been good and held up very well. We've been using these type notebooks for over 4 years!
I'll try to link a little later for you!

What kind are you looking for - spiral or bound (composition book style)?

my 13-yo prefers bound, hole-punched if possible 4 to an inch. the 10-yo wants wire-bound, 4-to-an-inch. i just found some possibilities -- but wow, are they pricey!
at daily planner
Miquelrius which i think B&N carries too
but if I can find some made in USA ones, even if the quality's a little less, i'd go for those.

When I was teaching middle school math and science I used to require these as both math notebooks and lab books. It helped so much for the kids to be neater and more organized. Now my son uses them for science notebooks also. We find the ones at Office Depot/Max/Staples to be adequate quality.

Staples definitely sells one that are bound like a copybook (composition book). I love them because for some bizarre reason I just love to write on quadrille paper!
Peace,
Nancy

Just wanted to add a resource link for grid notebooks - Miller Pads and Paper math notebooks. AMAZING PRICE!!!! And great choices:
1/4" grid
1/2" grid
1" grid
1 centimeter grid
And, if you're interested in non-spiral bound graph paper, they offer grid choices of 1/8", 1/4", centimeter, 1/2" or 1" squares.

Here is a link to making your own graph paper pdf online, to print out on whatever paper you want. Don't know how that compares in price, but it's also a good resource to have if you run out and need it in a pinch!

That's what I was going to suggest ... after years of fighting with messy notebooks, I've gone completely to looseleaf and binders (with 3-prong folders for containing finished units) ... so I'm always on the lookout fo rhow to print loose sheets rather than go with the quad books. Also, I've found some of the quad books are printed so dark, you can't see the pencil above the grid !
I use quad paper for my design work ....

Staples has spiral bound ones for about $2.49. The quality is excellent! We bought some of the ones on sale at WalMart for $.75 for my dd to use for scrap paper. The quality is much less, and the boxes are larger (I think). This size might work well for younger students though.
We had tried one of the glue bound graph paper books - not sure how to describe it - from either Staples or Office Mas, but it was terrible as the pages started falling out after just a little bit of gentle use. We definitely like the spiral bound better. HTH

Bumping this thread as quadrille notebooks are one of my favorite things in the whole world (as a math tool)!!!

We ran out of our favorite Norcom brand notebooks and I was desperate! I have no planned trips into town, and though I have loose quadrille paper, I (and the kids) much prefer a bound notebook. So...I bought some TOPS Docket quadrille notebooks from Amazon with my Prime shipping. WHEW! They arrived and my kids MUCH PREFER THEM! The price is ok at $3.99 for 70 sheets. The weight of the paper is a little heavier than the Norcom brand, which we all like. And the spiral binding is across the top which is much easier to work with than a side-spiral. No arm or hand awkwardly writing across the spiral. AND ....order through computer... arrive at front door.... no going out anywhere to schlep up and down aisles in a desperate search for spiral notebooks! Thought I'd share on one of my favorite threads!!!! ( I am such a over paper !)
