Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just received my TT Algebra, the first TT we ever tried. In the recommended lesson approach it says to have the child read the lesson and then listen to the video. I did that for the first lesson and see that the video is exactly from the written lesson. Is it ok to just have my child follow along in the book with the video or will there be differences later on? I'm just trying to get a feel for how long to allow during the day for his algebra and so if anyone could share their experience I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

I think your approach will be fine. My son reads the lesson and skips the video unless he has trouble understanding the concept; he uses the video to help him correct his work after he finishes each lesson. He spends about 45-55 minutes on each lesson.

Both of my dc watch the video then work the problems. They go to the written lesson if they have trouble understanding a problem and then they view the video as a last resort. Generally, my dd reviews all of the lessons in the book before she takes her exam and she finds this very helpful in preparing for the exam. They usually work for about 45 minutes to an hour.

Either just reading the lesson in the book or just watching the video works well. My children are book readers first, then look at solutions or video lessons as needed for clarification and/or reinforcement. I agree that the book and the video say the same things, but I think that having both available as options is valuable because it is a multi-sensory approach. Like with anything else, for different people or at different times for the same person, different approaches seem to work better.

Peace,
Nancy

I agree with what you said Nancy and Carole I can see how reviewing the text would be quite helpful before an exam. I think I'll let my son decide how he'd like to do the lessons. It will probably vary depending on the lesson and his mood. Thanks so much for all of your replies!
