Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am ALMOST ready to invest in Level B for my ds (7 but we're calling him first-grade). We have been using Mathematical Reasoning and lots of games (we also have lots of manipulatives, but they usually end up as battlegrounds and space stations )but I think we (read: me) need more structure. I have heard that Level A wasn't necessary to start with. Does that resonate with anyone who has used this?

However, here is my dilemma: His little sister will be 4 and, unlike him, LOVES SCHOOL!! WANTS TO BE INVOLVED AND DO HER OWN THING!! I really cannot afford Level A at the same time (and I certainly don't want to put the pressure of a curriculum on her yet). But as I'm hoping she will segue into RS eventually, I'm wondering if there's a way to "share" the lower levels.

Any thoughts? In the interest of sibling peace, I was thinking of buying her own personal abacus ...

I would definitely buy her her own abacus. (Having a second one is a good idea anyway imo.) From what I've heard, you should be able to use B with both; you'll just have to expand the lessons to as many days as it takes.

I have a level B you may have for the cost of postage -- if I can find it. I think I know where it is. You'll still need the manipulatives and workbook. (You might want to consider getting the CD-ROM with all the worksheets on it and print out as needed.)

In Christ,
