Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is a book that we borrowed from the library last night. We are going to play some card games this afternoon - lots of calculations, chance, data, probability to cover wrt the mathematics area!

The authors are Joanna Cole and Stephanie Calmenson.

Leonie -- this does sound like fun and my library has it (I'm batting pretty close to 1000 with your recommendations -- please keep them coming). The woman that wrote this book, Joanna Cole, is also the author of the Magic School Bus series which my kids like (and which have some pretty good info in them).

THANKS!

Mary, I never made the connection with Joanna Cole and The Magic Schoolbus( duh!). My youngest son enjoys the MSB series.

This is the perfect book for us. Our dd learned Spoons at a summer retreat and the kids' oldest brother taught them Speed during vacation. I've bought quite a few decks of cards over the last few months. 5 yo ds is getting quite fast at figuring out which card is higher or lower than his card (Speed is the name of the game ); he can play War also. Not to mention it is a relief to find games everyone from 5 to 15 can actually play together.

Cards are fantastic learning games!
