Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dc love books and stories so much- I want to add some read aloud math books to start off our short daily math lessons.

I know about the Math Start series, and we have tons of numbers books...

Does anyone have any favorite math story books and/or stories about great math minds?

For the younger crowd, my kids loved Mr. Base Ten Invents Mathematics. We also like Greg Tang's Books www.GregTang.com. I'll try to remember some others that we've enjoyed.

Hope this helps get you started,
Christine

We absolutely love the Young Math Books series (copyright 1978). We recently read Zero is Not Nothing by Mindel and Harry Sitomer. There are a large number covering a wide range of concepts typical for varying ages through at least late middle school in this series.

We also love

The Greedy Triangle
Amanda Bean's Amazing Dream (about multiplication)
The I Love math series from Time Life (out of print)
The Warlord series by Virgina Walton Pilegard
On Beyond a Million
One Grain of Rice by Demi
The King's Chessboard by David Birch

Most of which we found out about by looking at the Living Math list at livingmath.net.

We picked up a bunch of great math read alouds from
http://www.fun-books.com/

and our Library actually had a huge collection .
I thought it would just be dusty manuals but check out your kids non-fiction section under math.

We love the Greg Tang poems as well.

My sister just recommended The Warlord Books and this was the first I've heard of them. Just requested them from my library.
