Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thanks in advance for all help for sure.

To keep this short I'm going with key points only. Similar post in Language arts asking for Montessori help there too.

First year homeschoolers. 2 daugters just turned 10 and 11. Both adopted from Vietnam - older at age 4, younger at 15 months. Both great, smart ladies. Older needs real help with reading, spelling, etc. though she has a great command of spoken language. Younger is lost at Math. Fooled us all just counting fast but no understanding of Math facts, concepts. We want to use Montessori to help each with their base problems. Using Sonlight 1+2, Noeo basic physics and signed up with Kolbe. Started Math U See Alpha with younger and she likes it but she is still not getting there. Montessori approach from the ground up at least past counting looks so great. Don't have an unlimited budget for sure but want what will help. Help please. Have seen discussions of Schiller Math, Right Start etc. or working in basic Montessori concepts. Don't really have tons of time to make everything by hand... Thank you all.

Hi Kate,

Not wanting to complicate things further, but given the time & budget factors and the ages of your children, you might want to look into Professor B Math; see my posts here.

Like Montessori, it's a structured and logical approach, which has consistently produced excellent real-world results -- but it's much simpler and easier to get started with. No special manipulatives, straightforward step-by-step lessons, and even the option of a teacher's CD that allows you to just read the lessons off the screen. It's well worth investigating, IMO.

I made as much as I could of the math materials (some from files on Livable Learning and some from montessorimaerials.org, even making many of the golden beads, but finally I purchased some. I spent less than $100 on Ebay for the various golden bead components, and with those we can do ever so much. You can likely use those to get the basic concepts down, then the girls can move on to other things, whether Montessori or not.

Even adults learn things from working with the golden beads!

I can't tell, but from your post it sounds like you might have already been digging around and have read some past helpful conversations???...I hate to be redundant, but just in case you missed some these are some really helpful threads. Not trying at all to kill any conversation or offers of help, but I have found these threads quite helpful and they address specifically some of the things you mention:

Using Right Start with Montessori

Montessori Math: Great Demosis a short thread with some great insight and direction from Theresa (lapazfarm).

Montessori Math: The Golden Beads

I'm not quite sure what you're asking in your question...what kind of Montessori Math help are you specifically looking for - basics? where to start? which materials seemed the most worthwhile investments?
