Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I thought I would share some new living math books that we just discovered. The first is Great Estimationsand the other is A million. My children loved them! Anyone else have any more good finds? I found these at our library.

We *love* both of those books! The funny thing A Million Dots is that I showed it to two moms and both of my older kids. All 5 of us thought that we had a good grasp of "a million" ....until we "read" the book! A million is a whole lot!

I have a whole list of good finds from the Math Talk I gave at the conference in August. I've been meaning to post it for a while... It's kinda long.

ooooooh. THanks Janette. There seems to be so many more living math books now than in just the last few years.

Lovely!

We are enjoying a Maths related TV show - suitable for high school but makes the link between higher maths and real life applications - Numbers

Oh Leonie! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that show! We are planning another Numbers marathon tonight. My dh and I even do the lessons that go along the series.

Off to check out those books!

They are fun, aren't they? The kids and I have done some of them, too.

We read Anno's Mysterious Multiplying Jar this week and really enjoyed that.

I wish our library had more of these kind of books, I have totally backed off of math for now with my middle guy and wish I could use just living books and then follow up activities for our "curriculum"--but can't exactly buy them myself!
