Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone using this set of handwriting booklets from CHC? I was thinking it might be an easy way to get copywork done more regularly on days when I don't have something else for ds to copy. Specifically I was wondering about the 5th/6th grade levels. I was wondering about the proverbs- what are they like (length, sources, etc) and the one with the Versal letters. How complicated are the versal letters to do? Do they look nice enough when done to justify the extra time?
Thanks

They are pretty small print. It is a bit small for some of my boys - but we used the proverbs last year and will be using the Bible verse one this year. It is a sentence or two per frame and my son generally could get half a page done in about 10 minutes. Each page is a string of different proverbs - each one being a sentence or two.

I really liked it despite the small size - but wanted something to be sure my ds practiced cursive smoothly etc. everyday. I limited them to 10 min. per day so that he wouldn't get stressed and would concentrate more on the eye-hand skills. (We are challenged in the eye hand more and I was a little disappointed that it didn't give more hints on how to help dc write in one smooth motion. Still, I really loved what they were spending time writing - lots better than meaningless words). We did not bother with the fancy versal letters at the beginning but that was due to our own limitations so I cannot help you there. I do plan to cut out and laminate his work for periodic display for memory work. Just my perspective. Hope it helps.

We've used them, though we haven't done the proverbs. I really like them a lot for cursive practice. I often want to use copywork pieces from their other lessons or poems, etc., but sometimes our daughter likes the books. They are very nice.

I found that the small print was helpful for my older son. His handwriting got neater when I stopped buying the 3/8" books that are more common.

We have one of the upper level scripture books, but its not proverbs. I'm not sure what level it is. It takes him all of 3 minutes to do one of the scriptures a day. I'd buy it again.

One other thing...if your child needs and responds to beautiful workbooks with color and lovely pages, then this is NOT the program for you. Its very "low budget." My ds didn't mind a bit, but I wonder about my dd...
