Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ok let's start with some facts: 1. I am not very good in grammar 2. I don't believe in formal grammar at a young age cause they really don't grasp it anyway 3. I use Hillside's 1st book in 2nd-3rd grade, and the 2nd book in 4th-5th grade and we do it orally together very informal.

I bought a wonderful computer program that my 1st son liked. It's basically teaching parts of speech, and then the mechanics of it. He worked on this for 6-9th. It was a good fit. It was basically diagramming in a new computer type of way. Had all the why's and hows of it all.

Moving on to my 2nd and 3rd sons (12 & 14) they are struggling with it BIG time. Just can't make sense of it. My dh and I are on the same page with grammar, understand the basics and that's that. This program, as I said is very good but does go beyond that.

Now I don't know what to do? We are talking the middle school years 6-8th grade. They would be happy doing workbooks, but I think, no I know, they would get VERY bored with it. I had used a good few years ago Sandi Queens products and have thought about going back? Although we don't need all the information in them I think they would like the feel better.

What are your thoughts? What would you do, or where would you go with grammar? Thanks Misty

We really like Winston grammar It is no frills, just the facts but complete, hands on and takes very little time. We do about three sentences a day, so it requires very little time but my kids retain the info and enjoy grammar. ( not that they would normally enjoy it but they like this because it s short ).
