Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When my older son got to the Major Papers section of Jensens Format Writing I had a college student tutor him as I thought some of the information (works cited page and such) might be outdated. With my second child, there is no school budget left for a tutor so I am curious if anyone has used this section as is or augmented it with something else...not really sure if the old notecard method I used in high school/college to organize major papers even makes since in this computer age...thanks for any thoughts.

I think it's still a good system, because it's hands-on in the way that computer cutting-and-pasting isn't. You can spread out all your information and organize it on the floor, which you can't do on a screen.

Documentation styles do change some over time, and they vary from discipline to discipline, but the basic idea is the same: document what isn't yours. That I think is the concept you want to hammer home. When I taught college composition, we used a handbook which is now available as an online resource, and I would highly recommend it as a secondary resource. Basically I think Jensen is good, if not exciting, but this is good as a "second opinion" source if you're not sure about documentation format for a particular situation.
