Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have been busy here making Happy Books for various friends and relatives.

Basically, a Happy Book is Mead Composition notebook decorated on the front and inside covers with various stickers and the owners name. I covered the front and inside with a piece of white card stock first (just glued them on) and then let my kids decorate away. The first page inside has the Happy Book Rules. The recipient then has to fill up the rest of the book with things that make them happy (sayings, poems, pictures, stickers, etc).

My kids have enjoyed making these and filling their own with whatever strikes their fancies. I am finding it is a good way to encourage writing in a very fun way.

Here is a recent example of one we made this week to give away. It's a good rainy day activity and a good way to use up stickers!

Great Idea! What a special book this can become, especially when others write in it as well.
