Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm thinking about getting some of the Pathway readers (I saw them on the SCM curriculum guide). They look fun, and I thought they might give me a little more of a step-by-step approach to his reading, while still giving him something good to read.

What I'm not sure about is whether to get the 1st grade books (Days Go By and More Days Go By) or jump to the 2nd grade set (Busy Times and More Busy Times). I'm not sure how to gauge where he's at and I don't want to get the 1st grade ones and find they are too easy (my library doesn't have them, so I have to buy), or jump to the 2nd grade ones and find they are too hard.

He's a fairly good reader, although he doesn't read quickly yet. He still needs time to think about words and can't get through long sections of text without getting tired. I'd say he can read many picture books well, but anything longer is difficult for him.

Any suggestions and any opinions on the Pathway readers? (I did a search and found some threads discussing them, and they seem to be well liked).

Thank you!
