Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ok...I've read lots of the old threads and looked at these different on-line book catalog programs and had a few questions regarding:

Readerware
Library Thing
Collectorz.com/book

Soo...
1) What kind of scanner to buy? What is a cue cat scanner? Would any scanner work w/ any of these programs? How much are they and what would I search on ebay? I found them from $8-80 so I have no clue why such a price difference.

2) Are any and all available to back-up on your own computer or if the website closes down for whatever reason, is all your work lost? On another thread, someone said that's why they chose collectorz.

3) Are they all accessible thru an iphone or other hand-held gadget that you might would have if you were at a book sale or something? Can you tell I currently do not own or use any hand-held gadgets but you never know...

4) Are you able to document that the book has been read?

5) Are you able to list condition of book, where it's located within your home?

Thank you to Erin who has answered some of the questions about Readerware but these are a few more I was still pondering. My 12 year old is ***SOOOO ANXIOUS*** to start on this project with me and I'd like to do so as well.

Anything else you think I might would want to know. Can you tell I'm so indecisive?!?!

Thanks!

Kathryn

I currently have a CCD Barcode Scanner (Acan brand)I did have a different scanner before. I think most would work with Readerware. I don't know why price difference either, could be age of scanner, seller etc. I'm sure I paid around $10 incl postage both times.

With Readerware the program is on my computer the worry is more if my computer crashes. Actually I recently backed onto another computer for this reason. when searching for ISBN my program searches many sites to find the book.

Sorry can't help you here, too techno for me

It is hard to make a decision I know, but I think just 'feel the fear' and 'jump' particularly before your 12 yr old loses interest
