I was just looking at this program yesterday.
Classical Writing- Primer
It is primer to use before Classical Writing - Aesop. CW Aesop
I was pretty set on using Primary Language Lessons (Serl - already have hardback that I bought used a while back) and now, I am wondering if this program might serve the same purpose, but in a more laid out, mom-friendly way. I want to use PLL, but I'm also going to have a brand new baby plus two 3 year olds, and a kindergartener. So I'm wondering if it would be wise to invest a little more for the write in workbook aspect of this. I like it better than the samples of Writing With Ease I've looked at. It seems more in line with CM, too.
I've seen some old threads that mention this program, but wondered if anyone who has used it could update with how they liked the whole year's program, and if they continued into Aesop and the other levels.
There was a table at the Houston ARCH conference selling CW, but I only glanced at it and didn't discuss with the vendor, to have a better understanding and familiarity with the program. Regretting this, as after looking at the web site I wonder if it might be a good solution for narration, dictation, grammar, and some basic nature study for this very busy mommy...Thanks for any help!

I am curious about this, too. It looks like a very well-laid out program, and much simpler to implement than Aesop and up.

I don't know how helpful my input will be, but I used all three sections of CWP. However, I didn't do certain parts as I felt they were either too advanced or not systematic enough for someone at the first grade level (grammar and spelling). It was easy to use (there are supplements available for free online). I also cut down on how much copywork my son did as his handwriting was not good enough. (I put his copywork onto HWT paper.) Truth in not-really-advertising-- my son is disabled. I would probably have used more of it if he were not. I also would probably have not transferred all his copywork onto HWT paper.
I did like the artist study and plan to continue doing something like it next year. The science topics were fine but not enough in my opinion for a year's science. (I considered it a supplement unless it coincided with what we were already doing.) He narrated by drawing which is an area of strength for him.
It's a fine program. However, due to my son's disability, we will not be continuing on to Aesop. We can't. If he were a typical kid, I would give it serious consideration, but as it is.... we are continuing at pretty much the same level. I guess we could do it all over again, but that would make Mommy unhappy. There's a limit to how much repetition she can take.

Hmm... interesting! I've never seen this. Food for writing thought. 
However, is it just me? I can only see samples of the Primer (on the CW pag) and not Aesop or Homer levels... which take you to a Lulu page. But I can't preview it. Anyone else have this problem?

The Lulu pages have samples of Aesop at least -- larger ones than the sample of the Primer on the CW page.

I can see the preview - it should be a pop-up. Hope it starts working, Maryan. :)
The higher levels look interesting too. ekbell had written about using a free version of it last year on another thread but at the time I didn't look into it. For me, the price - $21/book and 3 books for the year, plus the guides for each one, is the holdup. I think that is quite a bit more than WWE. I understand any workbook will be more than copying. I'm thinking of just getting the Autumn one, and then starting PLL later in the Winter when I have a six month old, rather than a newborn. It would just give me a little bump. But I'd love to hear if others have stuck with and used it. It does seem like long copywork for a new 2nd grader, but I suppose it could be spread out over a few days.

Bumping this, as I have analysis paralysis. If anyone has used CW primer and Primary Language Lessons, I would love your help. I am several days over due here and trying to get as much ordered as possible before baby comes, to take advantage of the time...
So my questions for those of you who have used PLL are:
--Is it hard to just pull from PLL and go, in order?
--should I tab the lessons by activity, such as all the Narration, all the picture study, all the copywork, grammar lessons, etc.?
*** I have seen some here mention using PLL this way, then organizing the lessons as Narration Monday, Copywork Wednesday, Grammar Friday.
--How much would I have to look ahead at the lessons?
--Did you have issues at all with the hardback Emma Serl (this is what I have, not the color version by Hillside - bought used long ago)
As far as CW primer, or another ready to go program like FLL, or Queen's...
--Did you find the workbook layout time saving or did it box you in?
--CW primer - is the copywork too long for a new 7 year old?
--Were there any other issues?
I am thinking of using it just for the Autumn, at first, to give me an easier start to the school year with brand new baby. Of course, if my son is going to look at it and say, too much!, then it might not be worthwhile.
