Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What do you think of the Language of God series through Catholic Heritage Curricula?

I'm thinking of it for those days where we need to have something to sit and focus on for whatever reason rather than four days a week at 10:30, for example.

I have used them for years. When I gave the children a choice of using something else for grammar they wanted to stick with LOG.    And my olders who are done with the program, think I should keep using it for the youngers.

Thank you, Bridget. I ordered two books and they came very quickly. Do you mind if I ask, how do you use these? Do your kids decide how many pages they want to work on? Do you have a requirement for them?

We do one page/lesson a day 3 or 4 days a week. They work on them at the table with me. There are a few lessons that require writing a paragraph or a letter. I take 2 days to do those lessons with the children who stress over writing.

We use mainly LOG over here. Sometimes I add in Language lessons, but quite frankly, I don't really feel the need to.

My children love the LOG books, and I tried to switch (wondering if they were not CMy enough ) and the children were not as excited about the alternatives.

We do them 3-4 x a week, too, and the other days write letters, do dictation from the LOG book (practicing what they went over that week), etc. CHC recommends that in their Lesson Plans.

One thing I love about the books is that if we need review on a topic (I never learned grammar properly as a child, so often need review myself! ), we can go back, easily finding the page and it is explained there. Also, there is not a bunch of busy work. You get what you need without drilling the child to death. Plus, the assignments are always chock full of the faith and character/virtue.

You could give them a try and see if they are a good fit for your family. They are inexpensive enough.
