Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For those who are a bit nervous about their kids EVER learning to read -- my 7yos has been doing the CHC readers, "Little Stories for Little Folks", off-and-on for the school year.

Today, he asked if he could read Eloise to me -- he had "read" it to Maggie last night. Well, it took him a while, and we only got through the first half of it today, but HE READ the words (mostly ) and kept track of the story and was he proud (not, of course as proud as his MAMA )!

So, it can be done!

Hi Mary,

I'm so excited for you!! Congratulations!

Similar things are happening at our house. I have 7-year-old twins (boy & girl). My dd is very advanced in reading & is probably reading at a 3rd grade level (although she's in 1st grade). Reading has been much more of a challenge for her brother. It took him forever to memorize a few of the sounds (the Leap Pad dvds helped with that though ). We've been going through "How to Teach Your Child to Read" & he's starting to do very well with it. I decided to borrow the Bob Books from the library, hoping he would read them to me a few times a week. Instead, he insisted he had to put them upstairs so that he can read in his bed like his 2 older brothers do .

It's so much nicer the 4th time around when mom is more relaxed vs. the "torture" session that went on with dc #1    .
